General Enquiries

For general enquiries about accessing the services at Ramsay Clinic Albert Road please call 03 9256 8322.

Private health insurance is recommended and a referral from a psychiatrist or general practitioner is required.

Inpatient, Day Program & Outreach Referrals

Medical practitioners should direct all inpatient, day program and outreach enquiries to our Intake Service via telephone 1300 251 243 from 8:30am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday.

Referrals can be faxed directly to 03 9256 8361 or emailed via referrals.ARC@ramsayhealth.com.au.

Women's Recovery Network (Wren)

Wren is a public, state-wide specialist women’s mental health program, delivered in partnership between Alfred Health, Ramsay Health Care and Goulburn Valley Health. Wren provides support to women aged 18 years and over who have a range of complex conditions, including; trauma and sexual abuse, eating disorders and women who need mental health support during the Perinatal period.

Outpatient Referrals

Outpatient referrals need to be sent directly to a Psychiatrist. Please use the Psychiatrist Search Tool to find their contact details and contact their consulting rooms directly.

What to include in your referral

• Address Inpatient, Day Programs and Outreach referrals to ‘Ramsay Clinic Albert Road Psychiatrist’ unless you or your patient have a preference for a specific psychiatrist
• Address Outpatient referrals to the accredited psychiatrist of you or your patient’s choice.
• Patient’s name, address, date of birth, contact numbers and health insurance details
• Outline of the presenting problem and service requested (inpatient, outpatient, day program, outreach)
• Previous mental health history, treatments or admissions
• Other mental health / addictions care providers currently involved with patient
• Current or potential risk factors (EG. substance use, self-harm or suicidal thoughts or behaviour, verbal or physical aggression, eating disorders)
• Relevant medical history
• Current medications

Referrers, please allow up to 2 days for notification of the outcome of a referral. Note: Psychiatrists have variable office hours.

On occasions when there is not a psychiatrist available to accept the admission Intake notifies the referring practitioner.

An electronic discharge summary will be sent to the referrer upon discharge of the patient and should typically arrive within 48 hours.
