Dr Reddy received his basic medical degree from the University of Malaya before pursuing a Masters in Psychiatry in Kuala Lumpur. He has worked extensively in public mental health settings as an inpatient and outpatient psychiatrist.
His most recent appointment was as Consultant Psychiatrist, ACT Health, Canberra and Senior Lecturer, the Australian National University between 2010 and 2016.
An accredited supervisor for RANZCP psychiatry registrars in training, Dr. Reddy has also taught medical students in all his previous appointments.
Dr Reddy obtained his PhD. From the University of New South Wales, having worked at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney. The PhD. thesis focused on the risk factors for psychological morbidity in people with diabetes mellitus. He has published papers in peer-reviewed international journals.
While in Sydney, he worked with the Black Dog Institute as a trained facilitator for general practitioners conducting one-day programmes aimed at the assessment and treatment of Depression. Dr Reddy enjoys working collaboratively with GPs to achieve better mental health outcomes for patients.
He has also had experience in post-trauma regions by volunteering in humanitarian missions to Iran post-earthquake in 2004 and Sri Lanka post-tsunami in 2005.)
