Chris Davey is the Head of Department of Psychiatry at the University of Melbourne and a psychiatrist at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. He is the current Editor of the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Psychiatry. Chris’s main clinical and research interest is in the management of severe mood disorders, especially in young people. He has led, or is leading, large multicentre clinical trials of treatments for depression and bipolar disorder at the university and RMH.

Dr Mali De Silva has worked in the field of psychiatry for over 15 years. She graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Melbourne in 2001 and worked in a range of medical and surgical settings before training in Psychiatry. Dr De Silva completed a Masters of Psychiatry from the University of Melbourne in 2007 and achieved her Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists in 2011. She has worked across Australia in both the public and private sector, in various community and inpatient settings, ranging from major tertiary hospital settings to rural settings. Dr De Silva is committed to holistic, individualised and patient-centred care. Her strengths include an enormous capacity for empathy and understanding, clear communication, and an excellent knowledge of psychopharmacology.

Dr Gallagher is a member of the faculties of both Child and Adolescent Psychiatry as well as Adult Psychiatry; in addition to this he is a member of the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Eating Disorders. He treats a broad range of psychiatric conditions with interests in somatisation disorders (this includes eating disorders). Applying a varied approach to his practice he tailors ethical, holistic management to the individual and their condition. This includes working with the family and extended support network.

Dr Harte is a medical graduate of Trinity College Dublin and completed his post graduate psychiatry training in the United Kingdom and in Australia. He holds fellowship of both the Royal College of Psychiatrists (UK) and the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. Dr Harte is also an Accredited Member of the Faculty of Addictions Psychiatry (RANZCP). In addition to addiction psychiatry, Dr Harte has an interest in gender and sexuality. He is the immediate past president of AusPATH (Australian Professional Association for Trans Health) and is a past director of the Monash Gender Clinic. Dr Harte is an Honorary Senior Clinical Fellow in the Department of Psychiatry, University of Melbourne. He is also a member of the Victorian Mental Health Tribunal. Dr Harte has published in the scientific literature and has been a keynote speaker at scientific meetings both nationally and internationally.

In addition to his clinical roles, Malcolm has a long track record of involvement in psychiatric research, focused on mood and anxiety disorders, psychopharmacology and psychiatric aspects of acquired brain injury. He also leads the undergraduate and registrar training schemes at the Ramsay Clinic Albert Road. Malcolm was President of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists from 2015 to 2017, President of the Asian Federation of Psychiatric Associations from 2019 to 2022 and is now the Chair of the North East Metro Regional Mental Health Body in Victoria.

Associate Professor Mahesh Jayaram trained initially in London and Leeds (UK) and completed his Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2004. He then worked as a consultant in the NHS for 7 years prior to moving to Melbourne in 2013 and obtained his Fellowship with RANZCP. In addition to his clinical role, he works as Senior Lecturer in Psychiatry at the University of Melbourne where he is the coordinator for all Graduate Courses within the Department of Psychiatry.
