Admission Enquiries

For all enquiries about accessing services at Ramsay Clinic Albert Road please call 03 9256 8322.

Private health insurance is recommended and a referral from your psychiatrist or general practitioner is required.

Before you arrive

The first contact you are likely to have is with our Intake Service Coordinators. They call to discuss the admission process, and what to expect upon arrival. They are there to answer any immediate questions you have.

Online Admission

So everything is ready for you when you arrive at Ramsay Clinic Albert Road, we ask that you complete our online booking registration form at at your earliest convenience. We recommend you allow 15-30 minutes for this process. Please ensure you have your private health insurance details and Medicare number on hand.

Please note that the Clinic is mandated to collect personal information that includes your name and sex as recorded on your birth certificate and health fund details.

If this is not the name and/or gender you identify with please advise admissions staff your preferred name, pronoun and gender identity.

On Arrival

Check In

Please check in at Reception in the main foyer at the time indicated by Intake Service Coordinators. You will be required to present your:

  1. Medicare card
  2. Pensioner Concession Card / Health Care Card
  3. Private health insurance card showing your membership number and details
  4. Drivers licence
  5. Method for settling your account (i.e. credit card – note we do not accept Diners or American Express cards).

During Your Stay

Alcohol and Illicit Drugs

No alcohol or illicit drugs are to be brought into the Clinic or consumed at any time whilst you are a patient. Non adherence to this policy may result in your immediate discharge.


You must NOT drive a motor vehicle whilst a patient at the Clinic. Should you arrive with a motor vehicle it is required that arrangements be made as soon as possible for the vehicle to be taken home. There is no parking on Clinic grounds for patients.

Facilities are provided for those with disabilities such as lifts and handrails. Should you have any disabilities please advise prior to admission. There are four 2 hour disabled parking spaces in Albert Road in front of the Clinic entrance. There are also two disabled parking spaces and three 10 minute drop off spaces in the Clinic car park, entry via Bowen Lane.

A carer or family member is most welcome to accompany you upon admission. If you are a carer dropping off an elderly, frail or disabled patient, wheelchairs can be requested from Reception.

Electrical Items

On admission, and during your stay, you are requested to present any electrical items to be checked by staff to ensure they are safe. If there is any concern (i.e. frayed or discoloured cables, etc.) you will be asked not to use the piece of equipment during your hospital stay.

Internet access

Wireless internet access (WiFi) is included as part of your inpatient stay.


There is a patient laundry located in each Unit which contains a washing machine, clothes dryer and an ironing board. You will need to supply your own washing detergent. Please see Unit staff for access to an iron.


Mail is delivered directly to your Unit. Stamps may be purchased from Reception where you may also leave mail for posting.


The restaurant style dining room offers a selection of nutritionally-balanced meals. Should you have any special dietary requirements or any food allergies please let the clinical staff know on admission.

We are happy for you to invite visitors to dine with you for a nominal charge. Please see Reception staff during office hours or the clinical staff outside of these times to obtain a meal ticket.


All medication (prescription, over-the counter and complementary) that you bring to the hospital must be given to the nursing staff on arrival. Please advise staff of any allergies or adverse reactions you may have to medication.

Patient Identification

In order for the Clinic staff to correctly identify you throughout your admission, your photograph is taken upon admission and attached to your clinical notes.


Ramsay Clinic Albert Road is strictly smoke free. Smoking, in any form, is not permitted within the Clinic or on Clinic grounds, including entrances and car parks/driveways. If you want to smoke you will have to leave the Clinic grounds.

Electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) and other personal vaporisers for delivery of nicotine or other substances are not permitted to be used in any area where smoking is restricted. Cigarette litter is to be disposed of thoughtfully.

Staff Identification

Staff members wear photo identification badges at all times whilst on duty as a means of identification and internal security.


Mobile telephones are to be turned off during group therapy sessions and in some cases handed into staff. Restrictions apply to the photography and recording functions of mobile telephones. Telephone chargers and cords must be in good condition.

Ramsay Clinic Albert Road does not accept any responsibility for loss or damage to your mobile phone.

Public telephones are located in each Unit for your use and should your family and friends wish to contact you.

Therapeutic Groups

It is an absolute condition of admission to participate in inpatient therapeutic groups. These groups are considered an integral part of your care and treatment.

Valuables / Money

It is strongly recommended that you do not bring jewellery cash, or other valuables to hospital as Ramsay Clinic Albert Road does not accept liability for any items lost or damaged. Please keep cash to a minimum as the Clinic is a cashless facility as it does not have a main safe.

Zero Tolerance – Aggression and Violence

Every person working in or utilising a Ramsay Health Care facility – staff, patients and visitors – has a right to personal safety. Threatening, abusive or physically violent behaviour will not be accepted from anyone under any circumstances. Any such acts will result in action being taken. Such action may include being asked to leave the premises or discharge from the facility, police being notified and legal action implemented.
