Everyone feels worried or stressed from time to time. Usually, those feelings fade when a stressful situation has passed. However, some people experience overwhelming feelings of worry, for no particular reason, that can make it difficult to cope with daily life. This is called anxiety.

Anxiety is the most common mental health condition in Australia, affecting around one in every four people.

Inpatient program 

Our inpatient service is run by an experienced multi-disciplinary team, offering you 24 hour care.  We provide a comfortable, stable environment allowing you to focus on your recovery.

Day Program

One day / week for 10 weeks

This program is for people who experience difficulties with anxiety (including generalised anxiety disorder, social phobia and panic disorder).The anxiety program focuses on issues identified by research to be important in triggering and maintaining anxiety. These include:

  • Understanding anxiety
  • De-arousal strategies
  • Thinking-Feeling connection
  • Managing worry
  • Approach coping
  • Living well and setting realistic goals.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) are important elements of the program. CBT focuses on helping participants to respond positively to their negative thoughts and to be able to live the kind of life they would like, without being held back by anxiety. ACT focuses on helping participants learn strategies to accept and tolerate anxiety while working towards living a rich and meaningful life. Emphasis is placed on the provision of a warm, supportive environment that values the lived experience of group participants.
