Dr Nicole Burston is a General Adult psychiatrist with interests in depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders and young adult mental health. She did her medical training at the University of Sydney, graduating in 2007 and received her Fellowship from the RANZCP in 2015. Nicole currently works at the Mood Disorders Unit at Ramsay Clinic Northside. Nicole sees patients aged 17 years and over.
Dr Nicole Burston has a particular interest in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for the psychological management of both anxiety and depression. She also has an interest in personality vulnerabilities and psychotherapy and is completing Advanced Training in Psychotherapy with the College of Psychiatrists. Her experience has been at the Mood Disorders Unit at Ramsay Clinic Northside, the Anxiety Disorders Clinic at St Vincent’s Hospital and at Uspace, the Youth Mental Health Ward at St Vincent’s Hospital.
Dr Byrne is a medical doctor and completed her training at the University of NSW. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists and has specialist qualifications in child, adolescent and family psychiatry.
Dr Byrne has many years of experience in the public hospital sector working as a Staff Specialist in Child Adolescent Psychiatrist at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead. She has previously been a member of the hospital’s consultation liaison service and has substantial experience managing inpatients and outpatients with eating disorders.
She also has experience working in regional areas in person and by telehealth.
Dr Byrne has a particular interest in the influence of family relationships on mental health problems and importance of relational networks as potentially helpful treatment resources. She has undertaken further training in this area with the Australian Institute of Relationship studies.
Young adult patients are seen primarily on an outpatient basis although an inpatient service is offered at Ramsay Clinic Northside when required.
Dr Byrne is the Head of the Academy of Psychiatry within the faculty of medicine at the University of Queensland and Director of the Older Persons Mental Health Service at the Royal Brisbane Hospital and Women's Hospital. His interests include Alzheimer's disease ( particularly the neuropsychiatric symptoms assosciated with AD) and personality, anxiety and depression in older people.
Recent published work has included papers on generalised anxiety disorder in older people, dementia, and delirium in the general hospital setting and the role of lifestyle factors in predicting cognitive trajectory in middle age and later life.

Dr Dillon Cheah is a psychiatrist who obtained his medical qualifications at the University of Sydney. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists, having trained at leading institutions such as St Vincent’s Hospital, Royal North Shore Hospital and Prince of Wales Hospital. He has extensive experience working in both private and public sectors, including holding a Staff Specialist position at the Herbert St Detoxification Unit at Royal North Shore Hospital. Dr Cheah has a special interest in Psychotherapy and holds qualifications in Psychodynamic Interpersonal Psychotherapy (The Conversational Model). Committed to the highest levels of care, his approach is holistic and thorough, and is strongly informed by Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. He is committed to ensuring his skills and knowledge are kept up to date, with treatment derived from the best available evidence. Background & Training
Richard graduated in medicine from the University of Western Australia and completed his Postgraduate Training in Psychiatry in Western Australia.
He has sought training in mood and anxiety disorders, child & adolescent mental health and youth mental health. He is also a Certified Independent Medical Examiner by the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners.
Richard has published research articles in psychiatry journals and has contributed to book chapters. He has also written academic material for undergraduate psychiatry teaching. Richard continues to provide teaching and supervision to medical students and psychiatry trainees and has an adjunct academic appointment.
Richard is the Clinical Lead of the Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) Program. In the public sector, he has an appointment as a Consultant Psychiatrist at the Perth Children’s Hospital.
