The physical and emotional changes of youth and young adulthood can make young people particularly vulnerable to mental health issues. They can face a number of difficulties including anxiety, attachment disorders, depression, eating disorders and self-harm or suicide risk.
It’s vital that young people and their families can access specialised support and treatment as soon as they require it, in order to avoid poorer outcomes and over-medicalisation as the young person grows.
Treatment for youth and young adult mental health issues may include psychiatric and psychological interventions.
The Ramsay Clinic Hollywood Youth Assessment and Early Intervention service is a unique service designed to care for the mental health of young people aged 17 to 24 years old, with plans to expand the program to adolescents as it evolves.
With both inpatient and day program services available, the Clinic strives to support the psychological wellbeing and recovery of teenagers and young people with established and emerging mental health conditions.
Ramsay Clinic Hollywood offers a Youth service for people aged 17 to 24 years. This will be expanded to include adolescents aged 14 to 16 years later in the year. Both services will provide inpatient care and day programs designed to support the unique needs of young people.
Our Inpatient Care involves a mix of individual, group therapy and psychiatric treatment. Our psychiatrists will work with our multidisciplinary team of health professionals including mental health nurses, psychologists, social worked, occupational therapists, dieititians, exercise physiologists and art therapists to create a treatment and recovery plan tailored to meet the young person’s needs.
Our Day Programs are designed to provide young people with continued support as they transition back to everyday life, study and work. Facilitated by members of the multidisciplinary team, our programs complement the care they receive from their own GP and specialist treatment team.
We are committed to providing person-centred, holistic care that addresses the psychological, physical, nutritional and social health needs of the young people we care for. We work in collaboration with loved ones to empower young people with the skills they need to return to everyday life and work towards a bright future.
The therapies offered as part of our inpatient and day programs are designed around evidence-based psychological treatments. Young people in our care may participate in:
Young people admitted to the service enjoy spacious private rooms with ensuite bathrooms, indoor and outdoor dining spaces, exercise facilities, an onsite café, and wellness areas including a dedicated art therapy room.
