Supporting recovery, connection and wellbeing for current and ex-serving personnel.

At Ramsay Clinic New Farm, we offer a dedicated Military & Veteran’s Day Program tailored to support recovery from trauma, improve emotional wellbeing, and reduce the impact of post-traumatic stress. Designed exclusively for current and ex-serving military members, the program combines evidence-based group therapy with personalised individual support in a safe, understanding environment.

Understanding PTSD

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can affect up to 1 in 4 people exposed to trauma, and around 20% of returning military personnel will experience significant symptoms during their lifetime.

PTSD can impact your health, relationships, and quality of life. It can develop after a range of experiences, affecting people of all ranks, roles, genders, and ages.

Common signs of PTSD may include:

  • Irritability or sudden anger
  • Flashbacks or distressing memories
  • Withdrawal from loved ones and avoiding crowds
  • Feeling emotionally numb or disconnected
  • Hypervigilance or difficulty relaxing
  • Excessive alcohol use

About the Program

Our Military & Veteran’s Day Program is accredited to the National Standards for Trauma Recovery (PTSD), ensuring the highest level of care informed by the latest research.

The program includes:

  • A six-week intensive phase (four days per week)
  • A six-week continuation phase (two days per fortnight)
  • Follow-up sessions at 3 and 9 months

Treatment includes both group sessions with peers from military backgrounds and individual sessions tailored to your needs.

What You’ll Gain

Throughout the program, we support you to:

  • Manage anxiety, depression, and anger
  • Improve sleep and reduce nightmares
  • Address intrusive thoughts and flashbacks
  • Build healthy relationships and communication skills
  • Overcome avoidance behaviours
  • Strengthen motivation and reduce relapse risk
  • Connect with relevant supports and resources

We foster a respectful, non-judgmental environment where participants feel safe and understood.

Participation

To support the best outcomes, participants are encouraged to refrain from alcohol and illicit drug use throughout the program.

Financial Support

There are no out-of-pocket costs for eligible veterans. Ramsay Clinic New Farm will apply for funding on your behalf, and all fees will be billed directly to the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) or Defence.

If you or someone you know could benefit from this program, we’re here to help.
