What to bring

Welcome to Ramsay Clinic New Farm, located in a beautiful area of Brisbane, close to the river and parklands.

You will feel most comfortable wearing casual clothing around our clinic during the day and you will also require night attire, toiletries and other personal items. For safety purposes, covered shoes should be worn at all times and, if planning to go for walks it is recommended that suitable footwear and clothing be worn.

While small personal safes are provided in patient rooms, it is recommended that you do not bring any valuables such as large amounts of money, jewellery, or expensive appliances to the clinic as we will not accept liability for lost, stolen or damaged property. You might however, like to bring an iPad or similar device with headphones. Please clearly label your belongings.

Each room is fitted with a television for your personal viewing. Rooms are provided with free TV and free WiFi is provided throughout the Clinic.

Items required on your Admission by reception:

  • Medicare Card
  • Private Health Fund Card
  • Pension/PBS card (if applicable)
  • Safety Net Card
  • If your health cover requires you to pay an excess or co-payment, you will be required to pay this on admission

These items are essential for your stay:

  • Current medications and prescriptions
  • Comfortable, casual day clothes and night attire
  • Footwear is required to be worn in the Clinic
  • Toiletries
  • Any aids that are usually required ie. Walking frame, hearing or visual aids
  • Washing powder (laundry facilities are located on each floor with washing machine, dryer, iron and ironing board)

Please note:

Patients are requested to bring their prescriptions with them at the time of admission. This will ensure that their supply of medication is not interrupted, and additional charges do not occur. This is especially important for authority items, which have controls placed on them.

If you are taking several medications, please bring a current medication list from your GP to assist the admission process and ensure your medication treatment is continued. This should include prescription medicines, “over the counter” medications, aspirin, vitamins, herbal or alternative medicines.

Medications from Webster Packs cannot be dispensed by nursing staff, new medications will be provided.

Some patients may also like to bring:

  • Writing / reading material
  • A small amount of money
  • Small electrical items to make your stay more comfortable eg, iPad, Mobile phone, Hairdryer (No hair straighteners). All electrical items will be inspected and tagged prior to their use.

These items are barred from all Ramsay Health Care facilities:

  • Kettles
  • Diffusers
  • Toasters
  • Hair Straighteners
  • Electric blankets
  • Electric heat packs

Patients may be asked to arrange for excessive personal belongings to be collected due to Workplace Health and Safety and Fire precautions.

Please note:

  • Please do not drive your car to the Clinic unless you have arranged for someone to collect it. You will be asked to hand your car keys to nursing staff for safe keeping. It is a policy of Ramsay Health Care that patients do not drive while they are an inpatient.
  • The use of alcohol, illicit substances, non-prescription drugs or the misuse of prescription medications is prohibited. Any such behaviour may lead to discharge and/or police notification.
