Other conditions

Mental health conditions are wide ranging. People can experience different mental health challenges at different times in their lives or following different life experiences.

A number of Ramsay Mental Health services offer a general mental health ward, to care for patients experiencing general mental health issues and mood disorders, such as anxiety and depression.

Bipolar Disorder

When diagnosing bipolar disorder, understanding a baseline mood is critical, as mania and depression look different depending on how a person behaves when they are not affected by their symptoms.

Key symptoms of bipolar disorder can include a change in mood, or a difference in energy, drive and motivation. A person affected by bipolar disorder may no longer be able to do the things they normally would be expected to do.

How do we treat bipolar disorder at Ramsay Clinic Berkeley Vale?

Inpatient

Our 24-hour inpatient service is run by an experienced multi-disciplinary team.

We offer a comfortable, stable environment allowing patients the space and time to fully focus on their recovery.

Our inpatient services offer patients access to:

  • treatment, information and resources to help support recovery goals
  • our holistic care program designed to improve physical, nutritional and social health

Day Program

Our supportive day program accepts patients suffering from a broad range of issues and symptoms. A combination of therapies is used to deliver a program in a supportive, encouraging and learning environment.

The program is designed to give patients the support and skills they need to lead full and enjoyable lives, and to help prevent relapse and repeated hospital admissions. A group setting helps with social isolation and enables patients to discuss their challenges in a supportive environment and get help with problem solving and goal setting.

Borderline Personality Disorder

Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is a mental illness that affects a person’s ability to control their emotional state. It can easily be misunderstood and causes considerable suffering to the patient.

It is also highly treatable, and Ramsay Clinic Berkeley Vale offers both inpatient and day services for Borderline Personality Disorder.
