GP Continuing Professional Development

Ramsay Health Care has been a trusted provider of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for General Practitioners and the medical community since 2000. Partnering with specialists and healthcare professionals, we deliver interactive, hands-on education across diverse medical and surgical specialties, focusing on innovation and practical skills.

The Medical Board of Australia requires all health care practitioners to undertake 50 hours of CPD annually. The requirements are specified for each of the below categories:

  • 12.5 hours Educational Activities (EA)
  • 25 hours Reviewing Performance (RP) and Measuring Outcomes (MO) (minimum 5 hours each)
  • 12.5 hours free choice across any category.

Note: The RACGP requires Basic Life Support every three years.

Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) Course - Face To Face

The Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) Course 2 is an interactive program that aims to provide Psychiatrists, Psychiatry Registrars and Nurses with the evidence base, knowledge and practical tools for treating patients with ECT for depression and other disorders. The course comprises both theoretical and practical components covering the foundations of ECT treatment, latest research findings including insights into ultra-brief and bifrontal ECT as well as anaesthetic strategies to optimise treatment.

Ramsay Clinic runs this course twice a year with different delivery modalities to suit participants. Check Course 1 for online

Course 2 - 11-12 December 2026- Face-to-face in Sydney, Australia.

Course end time: 05:00 PM

17 hours total (2 consecutive days, 8.5 hours each)

The Face -to-face course (course 2) requires a minimum number of participants to go ahead. Please proceed with registering for the course, and we will inform you via email as soon as the minimum quota has been reached to prompt you to organise travel if required. In the unlikely event that the course must be cancelled, fees will be fully refunded.
