Profile

Dr Rosemary Allen possesses a comprehensive academic foundation in both medicine and psychology. She completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Queensland. Prior to this, she earned a Bachelor of Science with a double major in Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from the University of Western Australia.

Dr Allen has accumulated extensive experience across a range of psychiatric subspecialties through diverse training rotations. Her tenure at Perth Children’s Hospital involved collaborative work with regional emergency departments, providing care for children and adolescents with intellectual comorbidities and complex neuropsychiatric disorders. She completed her advanced training at The Alfred encompassing placements at the Early Intervention Mobile Outreach Service, and Headspace, where she managed complex inpatient cases, performed developmental assessments, and delivered structured therapy. Her clinical expertise extends to perinatal psychiatry, older adults' mental health, and adult psychiatry.

Dr Allen has worked at Albert Road Clinic for two years, following her previous roles at the Austin and Royal Melbourne Hospital where she worked as a consultant psychiatrist.

Beyond her clinical practice, Dr Allen has contributed to psychiatric research. She served as a Research Assistant at the University of California, San Francisco, focusing on bonding and attunement in neuropsychiatric disorders. Her research efforts have resulted in several publications within peer-reviewed journals, including Australasian Psychiatry and Clinical Medicine Insights: Psychiatry.

Dr Allen is the recipient of the Domansky Trust Fund Award and has presented her work at the Annual Neuropsychiatry & Behavioural Neurology Conference.
