Chris Davey is the Head of Department of Psychiatry at the University of Melbourne and a psychiatrist at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. He is the current Editor of the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Psychiatry. Chris’s main clinical and research interest is in the management of severe mood disorders, especially in young people. He has led, or is leading, large multicentre clinical trials of treatments for depression and bipolar disorder at the university and RMH. 

Chris completed his medical degree at the University of Western Australia. He trained in psychiatry in Sydney and Melbourne, and completed his PhD at the University of Melbourne. Before he commenced his current roles, Chris worked for many years at Orygen, a youth mental health clinical and research program in Melbourne.

Dr David De Luchi is a Psychiatrist with further training in child and adolescent psychiatry. Dr De Luchi worked as a General Practitioner for several years before commencing psychiatry training in 2017 and completed his training across hospitals in Brisbane. Dr De Luchi is providing outpatient and inpatient services to adolescents and young adults.

Dr De Silva is a locally trained psychiatrist, with over 10 years of practice in psychiatry, both in New Zealand and Australia with experience in peri natal psychiatry, early psychosis, trans-cultural issues and migrant mental health, personality disorders and old age psychiatry.

Special interests

Dr De Silva wishes to develop a broad psychiatric practice at Mitcham Private Hospital, and will consult regularly onsite from March 2013, supporting both outpatient and inpatient psychiatric services. She welcomes all new referrals for patients who require a management plan and is keen to work with general practitioners to provide further reviews as needed and to provide expertise in bulk-billed 291 and 293 assessments.

As an accredited psychiatrist at Mitcham Private Hospital’s private adult inpatient psychiatric unit Victoria Court, Dr De Silva will also accept inpatient and day program referrals for patients requiring care for:

Dr Mali De Silva has worked in the field of psychiatry for over 15 years. She graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Melbourne in 2001 and worked in a range of medical and surgical settings before training in Psychiatry. Dr De Silva completed a Masters of Psychiatry from the University of Melbourne in 2007 and achieved her Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists in 2011. She has worked across Australia in both the public and private sector, in various community and inpatient settings, ranging from major tertiary hospital settings to rural settings.

Dr De Silva is committed to holistic, individualised and patient-centred care. Her strengths include an enormous capacity for empathy and understanding, clear communication, and an excellent knowledge of psychopharmacology.

Dr Dhawan has been working in Psychiatry for over 19 years with extensive experience in management of adult psychiatric conditions including acute and severe mental illnesses.

Dr Maneesh Dhingra is a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists since 2009. He currently holds a Senior Psychiatrist position at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital and is a Senior Lecturer with the University of Queensland.  He works as an Independent Medical examiner for Work Cover Queensland and is a medical member of the Mental Health Review Tribunal.

Dr Dhingra has experience in treating a wide range of mental health condidtions including Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, Post traumatic stress disorder and Psychosis.  Dr Dhingra is committed to working together with patients and carers to develop safe and effective treatment plans that utilise an evidence-based approach.

Dr Julian Dodemaide is a medical graduate of the University of Queensland and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and NZ College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP). He has earned a Certificate of Advanced Training in Forensic Psychiatry, and is an accredited member of the Faculties of Forensic Psychiatry, Addiction Psychiatry and Adult Psychiatry with the RANZCP. He is also an active sitting member of the Mental Health Review Tribunal of Queensland.

Dr Dodemaide has gained experience working in a wide variety of clinical settings, including with the forensic psychiatry services High Security Inpatient Service and Prison Mental Health Service in Queensland, and Canberra Forensic Mental Health Services, as well as general adult psychiatry with the Royal Brisbane & Women's Hospital and Ramsay Clinic New Farm. He has gained experience in the assessment and rehabilitation of complex patients, as well as the application of forensic risk assessment tools, writing medico-legal reports, and providing expert evidence for the courts. He is passionate about providing high quality medico-legal reports, and supporting GPs in shared patient care. Interests include medico-legal expert evidence, psychotic and mood disorders, violence risk assessment, neurostimulation technologies, PTSD and military veterans.

Dr Dodemaide is accepting referrals for all forms of medico-legal reports, as well as '291' assessment reports to assist GPs in patient management.

Dr Dodemaide is not currently accepting new patients for ongoing management.

Dr Marion Drennan is a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP), with a background in general practice and family planning. She has worked in urban and rural South Australia, and in Alice Springs and Darwin. She moved to Queensland in 2006 to work with the West Moreton Integrated Mental Health Service.

Dr Drennan has a long-standing interest in working in Aboriginal communities, initially as a General Practitioner in South Australia and more recently (since July 2007) as the visiting psychiatrist for the Cherbourg Community in Queensland.

As a senior lecturer for the University of Queensland she has enjoyed many years of medical student teaching. In 2008 she was the recipient of the Metropolitan Award for Excellence in Clinical Teaching of medical students at the University of Queensland (across all medical disciplines).

Dr Drennan sees patients aged 18 years and over for a wide range of psychiatric disorders.  Her focus is on assessment and treatment and she does not see patients for the sole purpose of providing medico-legal reports.
