Dinesh is a psychiatrist who has worked in psychiatry for more than 10 years. He has extensive experience in the
management of people with complex mental health issues and has provided care in both the inpatient and outpatient settings.

 

Dinesh has experience in treating patients with a variety of different mental health problems including
Schizophrenia, bipolar affective disorder, depression, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder and obsessive-compulsive
disorder. He has interests in the treatment of patients with complex trauma and the impact of this on the development of
personality structure and personality disorders.

 

Dinesh has an interest in teaching. He is currently a Conjoint Fellow with the University of Newcastle. He has extensive
experience in teaching and supervising medical students with the University of Newcastle, and junior medical officers working for the
Hunter New England Area Health Service. He has previously been involved in preparing the observed structured clinical examination
for medical students with the University of Newcastle. In the past he has acted as an examiner for medical students. He has also played a role in choosing suitable candidates to join psychiatric training with the College of Psychiatrists.

 

Dinesh is originally from Sri Lanka but has lived and worked in Newcastle NSW since 2010. He currently works in both the public
and private sector. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, tending to his garden and listening to crime podcasts
on Spotify.

Sarah-Jane is a Psychiatrist who is extremely passionate about providing holistic patient centered care.  She completed medical training at Cambridge University and the University of London in the UK.  Has a number of additional qualifications and has a lifelong thirst for learning.  She has 20 years experience working with some of the most marginalised in society in prisons both in the UK and NSW.  and is Conjoint Senior Lecturer at UNSW and has published and presented internationally often on ethical issues and challenging the status quo.  She has championed improvements in the care provided to the trans community and is a strong advocate celebrating diversity and inclusion who particularly enjoys working with women and those with eating disorders.

Dr Lynne Steele was a graduate of the University of Glasgow Medical School in 1995 and undertook further training in psychiatry in the UK obtaining MRCPsych in 2002.

Further advanced training culminated in CCT (completion certificate of specialist training) in General adult psychiatry with an interest in mood and anxiety disorder plus CCT in Consultation Liaison psychiatry (PMETB 2006). Dr Steele also has an interest in perinatal psychiatry, eating disorder and somatoform disorder.

After immigrating to Australia in 2006 she has worked as a Psychiatrist within the public health service for four years prior to entering private practice.

Dr Steele held the position of academic coordinator for mental health with the University of QLD –Rural Division from 2007-2010. She has completed training in psychodynamic psychotherapy, CBT, Cognitive analytical therapy and also EMDR.

Her interests include psychotherapy plus general adult and consultation liaison psychiatry in particular perinatal psychiatry, mood and anxiety disorders, eating disorder and PTSD.

Dr Jon Steinberg is a graduate of the University of Queensland Medical School. He completed his Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists in 1996 and is a member of the Faculty of Psychiatry of Old Age. Since completing his Fellowship Dr Steinberg has worked in the area of adult general psychiatry and old age psychiatry both in the public and private sector.

He has participated in a number of trials of atypical antipsychotic medications in schizophrenia and mood disorders. He has been on the National Advisory Boards for a number of the atypical antipsychotic medications since 2001. Dr Steinberg currently holds a senior lecturer position at the University of Queensland and is involved with educational activities for psychiatrists and general practitioners focused on mood disorders, old age psychiatry and dementia and its early detection and treatment.

He is the Director of the Psychosis program at the New Farm Clinic (private psychiatry clinic) and is Medical Director at Caloundra Private Clinic as well as holding a number of visiting medical officer positions at hospitals in Brisbane.

Dr Jeremy Stone trained in Medicine at Monash University, then completed a residency at The Royal Melbourne Hospital.  He initially worked in General Practice for several years until deciding to specialise in Psychiatry. Jeremy completed his training in psychiatry at St Vincent’s and The Alfred, specialising in Liaison Psychiatry. Since attaining Fellowship Jeremy has worked at Peninsula Health in a number of roles both clinical and management. He has been in full-time private practice since 2011 and works from the rooms at Optimind in Main Street, Mornington. Jeremy admits patients to the Mental Health Unit at Beleura Private Hospital and attends to other specialists’ patients when required at the local private hospitals, including Peninsula Private in Frankston.

In addition Jeremy has maintained a strong pro bono contribution since his trainee days with the RANZCP Victorian Branch, as a Councillor on a number of committees and currently the Binational Finance Committee.

Arun graduated from the Imperial College School of Medicine, London. He has wide experience practising psychiatry across Australasia. He is an Honorary Fellow with the University of Melbourne and a member of the Victorian Faculty of Psychotherapy.

Arun has an enduring faith in psychotherapy and its ability to foster self awareness and a sense of personal agency. He has a particular interest in the pharmacological management of mood, anxiety and posttraumatic disorders. Arun collaborates with patients and general practitioners in outpatient treatment plans.

Dr Praveen Sukumaran is a specialist Psychiatrist with experience in Australia and overseas for over 10 years. 

Dr Sukumaran is a RANZCP college certified specialist Psychiatrist who commenced his practice in Cairns public mental health sector in 2013.

Although he has worked in various capacities and roles – such as integrated inpatient and community management of patients, administration and coordination of ECT, he has more recently focussed on community based management of mental health patients within the principles of a recovery focussed model of care.

Special interests
Dr Taylor is interested in developing a broad psychiatric practice at Mitcham Private Hospital. He works with patients using a broad bio-psychosocial approach using a range of tailored treatment strategies, including: brief and long term psychotherapy (psychodynamic, supportive and CBT) and
pharmacotherapy.
