Mitcham Private Hospital would like to introduce Dr Eranthanie (Hiranthi) Perera. Hiranthi is a local (Victorian) trained psychiatrist having completed training at Box Hill Hospital and The Alfred currently working across both public and private mental health services.
Hiranthi wishes to develop a broad psychiatric practice at Mitcham Private Hospital, and will consult onsite, supporting both outpatient and inpatient psychiatric services. She welcomes all new referrals for patients who require a management plan and is keen to work with general practitioners to provide further reviews as needed and to provide expertise in bulk billed 291 and 293 assessments.
Dr Perera has a special interest in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (having advance training by The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrist) for Depression, Anxiety, OCD Spectrum Disorders and PTSD and will be happy to see patients at a reduced fee for psychotherapy sessions.

Dr David Philp is general psychiatrist based at Ramsay Clinic Wentworthville. He sees patients aged between 16 and 65, and has particular interests in substance use disorders, chronic pain and eating disorders. Dr Arun Pillai is a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist with experience working in private and public health services across Australia. He currently holds the position of Medical Director of Campus based Child and Youth Mental Health Services (CYMHS), at Queensland Children’s Hospital and Queensland Adolescent Extended Treatment Centre – Jacaranda Place. Arun has a focus in early intervention for both mental health and developmental challenges in children and young adults, incorporating the true concept of personal recovery. Dr Vasantha Bhanu Pothala is a general adult psychiatrist and a Fellow of The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists.
Dr Pothala has expertise in management of a spectrum of mental health issues, including Mood and Anxiety Disorders, Psychosis, PTSD,
personality Disorders and Addiction Psychiatry.
He has extensive experience working in psychiatry in various countries around the world. Dr Pothala has trained and worked in UK, Ireland and New Zealand in a wide range of specialties in Psychiatry.
He is familiar with Central Coast and Hunter New England regions as he worked as a Consultant psychiatrist at Mater Hospital in Newcastle and also at Maitland, Taree and Wyong hospitals.
Dr Pothala has sound clinical knowledge with excellent empathic skills and offers comprehensive patient centred care with a bio-psycho-social approach.
Tacita has experience working in both the public and private sector with complex presentations. Apart from private practice her appointments are with Justice Health with the adolescent forensic team in Sydney. She enjoys working with the whole family system and in addition to systemic training has further skills in attachment-focused family therapy, narrative therapy, internal family systems therapy, circle of security and tuning into teens. Prof. Brian Power is a Consultant Neuropsychiatrist at Hollywood Private Hospital and The HollywoodClinic, Nedlands. His special interest include:
His neuropsychiatry practice caters for patients with psychiatric conditions secondary to organic brain disease. Particularly neurological disorders including, stroke, multiple sclerosis, parkinsonian disorders, Huntington’s disease, seizure disorders. His older Adult Mental Health service treats patients with psychiatric conditions including problems with mood and anxiety symptoms, psychotic symptoms, and memory complaints.
Background & Training
Professor Brian Power obtained his postgraduate medical degree at The University of Sydney, together with his PhD in clinical neuroscience at The Institute for Biomedical Research, investigating the brain circuitry of the thalamus. He obtained specialist registration as a psychiatrist in Western Australia, and completed subspecialist training in psychiatry of old age before working as a consultant psychogeriatrician in the South Metropolitan Area Health Service. His clinical expertise is in neuropsychiatry and older adult mental health.
He has extensive postdoctoral research experience in neuropsychiatry and neuroimaging, with a research focus on investigating the thalamus as a putative neuroimaging biomarker in neurodegenerative disorders. He is passionate about medical education and fostering the development of tomorrow’s doctors, and has recently served as Professor and A/Dean (Preclinical) at The School of Medicine Fremantle (University of Notre Dame Australia). He is now Adjunct Professor at UNDA and continues to enjoy research and teaching activities.
Dr Mukesh Prabhuswamy is a Psychiatrist with experience in Child and Adolescent psychiatry who consults from Northside Macarthur Suites. Mukesh has over 13 years of experience as a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist both overseas and in Australia doing clinical work, research and teaching. His areas of interest include school related mental health with specific focus on school refusal and depression, anxiety disorders, developmental disorders including autism and Paediatric psychopharmacology. He regularly reviews articles for international journals and is also one of the Review Editors for the Frontiers in Child and Neurodevelopmental Psychiatry.
Dr Pun has worked as a psychiatrist for 20 years in both the public and private sector.
Dr Pun is currently the Director of Mental Health at the Mater Hospital, South Brisbane.
Dr Pun is also the lead psychiatrist at the Gender Service, Royal Brisbane and Womens Hospital.
