“Psychotherapy isn't always about complicated theories or mysterious jargon. Sometimes, it's like a good chat—a chance to gain fresh perspectives on things. Sure, it can be tough or uncomfortable at times, but that's often where the real growth happens.”
Gordon is an experienced health psychologist who takes a holistic approach to wellbeing. He has experience working with adults experiencing chronic health conditions, interpersonal relationship issues, and unrelenting standards. He also supports people dealing with anxiety, stress, addictive patterns, and traumas.
Gordon doesn’t switch into “therapist mode” — he shows up as his real, unfiltered self. He’s genuinely curious about what drives people and is deeply invested in helping them use that insight to their advantage. While he brings a serious and thoughtful approach when needed, he’s also not afraid to add a bit of banter or offer a fresh perspective. After all, sometimes a good laugh or a new way of looking at things is exactly what’s needed to create a breakthrough. He sees therapy as a collaborative journey—one where he helps clients take ownership of their growth.
Gordon draws on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI), combining evidence-based techniques with insights from neuroscience and mindfulness practice. His approach helps clients develop psychological flexibility, shift unhelpful patterns, and build self-awareness for lasting change.
Gordon has five years of experience across diverse settings, including private practice, public and private hospitals, substance rehabilitation, community rehabilitation, aged care, and not-for-profit organisations. His work focuses on supporting adult clients.
Gordon is a Health Psychologist endorsed by AHPRA. His qualifications include a Master of Health Psychology from The University of Queensland, a Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology) (Honours) from the University of the Sunshine Coast, and a Bachelor of Psychology from The University of Adelaide. He is also a member of the Australian Association of Psychologists Inc (AAPi).
