Anxiety

Everyone feels worried or stressed from time to time. Usually, those feelings fade when a stressful situation has passed. However, some people experience overwhelming feelings of worry, for no particular reason, that can make it difficult to cope with daily life. This is called anxiety.

Anxiety is the most common mental health condition in Australia, affecting around one in every four people.

How do we treat Anxiety at Ramsay Clinic Gold Coast?

There are many effective treatment strategies that can help you manage anxiety. The type of treatment will depend on the type of anxiety you are experiencing. Treatment can range from psychiatric interventions and medication to psychological therapies, support groups and lifestyle changes.

Day Program

Managing Anxiety Program

Our specialised, supportive day program is suited to people who need help recovering from or dealing with mental health concerns, giving them lasting confidence in managing their mental health. Groups consist of psychoeducation, reflection activities, experiential learning, and group discussions.

These models help people with mental health concerns in exploring where their difficulties, issues or ways of behaving, thinking or feelings may come from.

The program runs for 12-weeks with the following topics covered;

  • The nature of the disorder
  • Cognitive restructuring
  • Relaxation and behavioural activation
  • Self-esteem
  • Managing difficult emotions
  • Relationships and communication skills
  • Healthy living and lifestyle choices
  • Mindfulness
  • Motivation and goal setting
  • Relapse Prevention

Our group programs are founded on the evidence-based mental health treatment Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), utilising aspects of Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT).
