Information for Visitors

The support of family and friends is an important part of the recovery process, and we welcome visitors during designated visitor hours.
Visiting Hours are as follows;

Maternity 3:00pm to 4:00pm
7:00pm to 8:00pm
Windsor Court (Medical / Surgical Unit) 2:00pm to 8:00pm
High Dependency Unit please liaise with the nurse in charge
Victoria Court Mental Health Facility please liaise with the nurse in charge

We ask that you and your visitors respect the wishes and wellbeing of our other patients and avoid undue noise. Please be considerate when using mobile phones. Please note visitors are requested NOT to visit patients if:

They have been with someone who has an infectious disease such as;

  • Influenza
  • Chicken Pox
  • Whooping Cough
  • Gastroenteritis

Or feeling unwell with;

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Cold/Flu
  • Gastro illness (nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea)

Hospitals can present hazards to children, so we request that children be supervised by an adult at all times, and are not permitted to roam freely around the hospital.

Reception

Reception is open during the following hours:

Monday to Friday 6.30 am to 8.30 pm
Saturday 7.00 am to 8.30 pm
Sunday 8.30 am to 8.30 pm

Car parking

There is a 15 minute Drop off and Pick up Parking zone near to the hospital main entrance and disabled parking is also provided.

The following Parking Fees apply for visitors electing to park onsite at the hospital:

Payment is valid from 6 am – 8pm – 7 days

Please enter your car registration and make payment at the automated pay station located at the main entrance to the hospital.

Additional free parking is available around the hospital (parking restrictions may apply).

Reception is able to book a taxi if required and a telephone is located in the main foyer for your convenience.

Public transport

Ramsay Clinic Mitcham is within a 10 minute, easy walk of Mitcham train station.

Regular bus services also run nearby.

Cafe

A Hudson’s Care is located near the main entrance and provides an assortment beverages, confectionery and light meals.

There are also vending machines situated on lower ground floor, next to radiology.

Mitcham Private is a smoke free zone.

Flowers, e-mailing patient, mail

Flowers and mail are delivered directly to your room. If you have mail to post, please ask the nursing staff to take to reception and this will be arranged for you. If you need to receive mail via facsimile, please ask the sender to use the facsimile number (03) 9210 3223. The number to quite for international senders is +61 3 9210 3223. 

Visitor code of conduct

Ramsay Clinic Mitcham has developed a Code of Conduct so that visitors understand that a certain level of behaviour is expected and hospital staff understand their rights in order to protect patients, staff and other visitors.

All visitors to Ramsay Clinic Mitcham have the following obligations to other visitors, patients, doctors and hospital staff;

  • Keep noise to a minimum so not to disturb others
  • To comply with lawful requests by Medical Practitioners and Hospital Staff
  • Not to smoke within the hospital and surrounds
  • Not to consume alcohol on the premises
  • Respect the property of others and not to damage or misuse the property
  • Be courteous and polite
  • Show consideration and respect for the dignity and privacy of other patients
  • To keep children under control at all times
  • Comply with visiting times

Where hospital staff believes visitors behaviour to be improper, staff may;

  • Request visitors to behave in accordance with this Code of Conduct
  • Request visitors to leave the hospital
  • Take all reasonable and necessary action to escort offenders from the Hospital premises and to ensure that they do not return to the Hospital. Ramsay Clinic Mitcham reserves its rights to take any action which may be necessary to prevent any disruption by any persons upon the Hospital premises. By entering upon the premises all visitors accept this Code of Conduct.
