Profile

Every person’s story is unique, and it’s a privilege to be trusted with yours. My role is to help you make sense of your experiences, build confidence, and grow toward independence—so my support is no longer needed. I look forward to meeting you.

Holly Dennis is a warm and dedicated Clinical Psychologist Registrar with a strong focus on supporting young people and adolescents, though she enjoys working with people of all ages and walks of life. She has a special interest in complex trauma, depression and mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and relationship difficulties. Holly also provides family therapy for family systems under pressure, and neuropsychological assessments for developmental and learning disorders. Her approach is empathetic and tailored to each individual, helping clients understand their challenges and develop practical strategies for lasting change.

Holly takes a client-centered approach, adjusting her therapeutic methods to meet each person’s unique needs. She draws on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), trauma-informed approaches, and systemic family therapy to create an intervention well suited to every client. Holly believes that building a strong, trusting therapeutic relationship is the key to growth, change and healing. Her goal is to empower clients to the point where they no longer need her support, helping them trust their own judgments and generate their own solutions, knowing they are the experts in their own lives. She understands that change can be uncomfortable, but she believes this discomfort is essential for therapy to have real and lasting impacts. To traverse the discomfort, Holly adopts a supportive and client-led pace, encouraging moments of humour and lightness to make the process more enjoyable. She remains steadfast in guiding clients through challenging moments, knowing that this is when true progress happens.

Holly’s clinical experience has comprised working with adolescents, primarily in not-for-profit settings, where she has supported families through crisis, and young people facing complex mental health challenges. She also has experience in outpatient hospital settings, helping individuals adjust to physical health issues, including post-stroke or injury recovery. Holly has conducted neuropsychological assessments for neurodevelopmental and learning disorders, including ADHD, and has provided complex neuropsychological assessments following brain injury in health settings. Her diverse experience has strengthened her ability to work with a wide range of clients and needs.

Holly holds a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) and a Masters of Clinical Psychology.
